Fetal Echocardiogram

Fetal and Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia (NAIT or FNAIT), occurs in approximately 1:1000 to 1:10,000 births.

This condition results from the presence of maternal antibodies against paternal platelet antigen (Human Placental Antigen, HPA-1a).

Fetal echocardiograms are indicated in patients with high-risk factors for congenital heart disease, as well as for the functional evaluation of the fetal heart in the different conditions. The Fetal Institute works closely with pediatric cardiologists that can further evaluate any suspicious findings.
