Lysis of Amniotic Bands

Fetal and Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia (NAIT or FNAIT), occurs in approximately 1:1000 to 1:10,000 births.

This condition results from the presence of maternal antibodies against paternal platelet antigen (Human Placental Antigen, HPA-1a).

First described by Quintero and collaborators in 1997, lysis of amniotic bands is offered by our physicians at The Fetal Institute to prevent the adverse consequences of the amniotic bands. The procedures are done in the Hospital in the main Operating Room, under maximum antiseptic technique.
